Kayaking on the Ottawa
This trip will be split between the idyllic Ottawa river and the amazing Lachine rapids of Montreal.
First we will be based on the banks of the Ottawa. Setting the boundary between the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, the Ottawa River is a kayaking paradise hidden amongst the forests of eastern Canada. Just an hour and a half’s drive away from the country’s capital Ottawa City, the ‘Rocher Fendu’ section is world renowned for it’s big volume waves and warm water fun. The two major channels of the Ottawa River, the ‘Main’ and the ‘Middle’ provide relaxed yet lively day trips, whilst the two main play rapids of ‘McCoy’s’ and the ‘Lorne’ provide the ideal locations for our freestyle coaching. It is a fantastic location for both beginning and advancing your river play.
Second we have the Lachine rapids of the St Lawrence, situated in the bustling metropolis of Montreal, providing the unique experience of being able to paddle and surf world class white water and then get a genuine Italian gelato ice cream at the take out.
Both locations are unique and both provide amazing opportunities for progressing your river play and freestyle. Our days will be a mix of focused coaching, play sessions, video analysis, and river laps, all tailored to suit you.
We will be camping at both locations but with an optional upgrade to a cabin/room/safari tent if you want to avoid bringing your own camping equipment.
Optional extra: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a jetski drive you around whilst kayaking? Here we also offer an optional extra to hire a jetski for the day to ferry you back to the top of the Lachines rapid after you flush each time. No more walking or paddling back up – just hop on the jetski and be towed back up! It also gives you the opportunity to surf the impressive but less often surfed ‘Mavericks’ wave. This really is the very best way to experience the Lachines!
