Kayaking in Georgia

The green valleys, endless vineyards and ancient churches scattered throughout Georgia will quickly make you realise why Georgia is considered one of the most beautiful countries in the world. While we’re here to sample the wine and soak up the beauty, we’re also here to experience the famous white water. Guests are considered blessings in Georgia and we’ll experience this friendly hospitality throughout our ten day adventure as we paddle our way to the Black Sea and beyond.

Whitewater Kayaking Holidays

Day 1 Arrival to Kutaisi Airport

Upon arrival you will be picked up and driven to our accommodation where you will meet the rest of your travel companions for the next ten days of adventure.

Day 2 Rioni Thivisi Gorge III (III+)

We depart from Kutaisi to Racha for a warm up run on lower Rioni section known as Thivisi Gorge where two big volume sections of 10 km is awaiting us. Rioni is one of the pearls of Racha and one of the most famous Georgian rivers. It is also one of our favourites in terms of quality of the whitewater. It is a continuous never ending fun class III river with some more demanding rapids along the way as well. Just after running the river we move to nearby Ambroulari to experience our first real taste of Georgian culture and cuisine.

Day 3 Tshenistikali Middle III (III+)

Tshenistikali is another big volume river with fun waves which sources from lower Svaneti region. This region is famous for it’s meat version of chachapuri known as khupdari that we will taste after our run. We are going to stay next to Lentheki village and for those seeking additional experiences they can visit small church up the hill or lower Svanetian museum with possibility of climbing one of defensive towers that are symbolic for this region.

Day 4 Tshenistikali Lower III (IV)

We continue our journey at Tshenistikali river heading down to beatiful gorge filled with big volume and fun paddling. We leave the road and move on boarder of Imereti region to finish in different valley. For the evening we come back to Kutaisi where we have afternoon to do some sightseeing a get to know a little bit of local history.

Day 5 Bzhuza II-III

We head out from Kutaisi south west direction to get to Bzhuza river which is well-known for the creeking race that takes a part there. Straight away you can notice different climate and surroundings showing beauty of another region of Georgia. After running easy lower part of the section we head to Kobuleti at the Black Sea – our base where we are going to stay for another couple of days.

Day 6 Black Sea

Enjoy a well deserved rest day on the beautiful beaches of the Black Sea. For those interested there is possibility to visit the nearby Batumi as one of biggest and most interesting towns of Georgia where local culture clashes with western influences.

Day 7 Machakhela II (III)

One of the most beatiful runs in Georgia, breathtaking Gorge with historic bridges hanging over our heads while we paddling.

Accommodation: Kobuleti

Day 8 Adjaristsqali III (III+) Purtio or Dondalo section

Final day on a beautiful river with continuous whitewater and a couple of spicy sections!

Accommodation: Kobuleti

Day 9 Supsa III

To finish up the trip we head to the beautiful Supsa section that runs in green and beatiful gorge full of vegetation and mysterious climate. Style changes again to narrow creeking. Afterwards we head back to Kutaisi.

Day 10 Departure day

Day of departing from Kutaisi Airport.

Is this the right trip for me?

The trip is suitable for people that have experience on the rivers and feel comfortable at class III, have a reliable whitewater roll and want to paddle rivers of class III-III+ and experience the local culture. The course will help you step up your game under the eye of professional kayakers with a high level of coaching and guidance.

Do you cater for youth paddlers too?

The camp is suitable for both youth and adult paddlers. During the camp if our coaches are going to look after young paddlers, participants and their legal supervisors must agree to rules of camp.

Itinerary

Whitewater Kayaking Holidays

Day 1 Arrival to Kutaisi Airport
